THE SPANISH LESSONS

El Puente Spanish Language School’s intensive Spanish Program is based on one-to-one or small group instruction. Students typically receive three daily hours of classroom instruction that focuses on developing the student’s oral abilities through a communicative approach. Daily home assignments normally involve three hours and begin once students are rested and ready to concentrate on the language again; thus, students work on the language for at least six hours a day.
          
 Most evenings El Puente Spanish Language School organizes group discussions with school instructors in an effort to create further opportunities to broaden the student’s knowledge of the local culture and the language through games, films and talks..
The school encourages students of Spanish to meet and practice with students of English, providing both with even further practice of the target language.

Beginners will be pleasantly surprised to realize how soon they can write a simple essay or understand and use basic words and sentences when they converse in Spanish.

In 30 hours of instruction –plus 30 hours of homework- an average student can expect to communicate in common life situations, to hold basic conversations on general topics, to have a command over six basic tenses (present, preterit, future, imperfect, present and past perfect), and to use a vocabulary in the neighborhood of 500 words.

Students electing one-to-one instruction are free to determine the itinerary of their course and those in need of very specific information at a beginner, intermediate or advanced level, may hire lessons by the hour.

Nevertheless, a minimum of two weeks (30 hours of instruction) is recommended for those students at beginning and intermediate stages in order to achieve and sense progress.

Private lessons can begin or end on any day.
